We arrived in Nanning today, and will definitely get the babies tomorrow! There is only one other family here, the rest will be coming from Beijing tomorrow. Their flight is supposed to come in around 4 p.m., and we'll get the babies around 5 p.m. We were met at the Nanning Airport by our guide, Vicky. The drive in from the airport was through rural scenery, and then Nanning arose as a sprawling highrise city. There's a gray haze over everything. After checking into the Yong Jiang Hotel -- which seems nice -- we met the other family here. Maria and her friend, Donna, were supposed to travel a month before us. But 9/11 disrupted their travel, and they could not get a flight out until our group came. Maria is very eager to meet Chloe. Vicky took us to a restaurant near the hotel, and the food was very good. Chinese wine, however, leaves a lot to be desired! Here's our home away from home for the next week or so: Babies tomorrow!!!!! |
