Today we went to the Evergreen Mountain Park. It was really beautiful scenery and flowering plants on a mountain that overlooks the Yong Jiang River in Nanning. We climbed a tower (OK, my mom climbed the tower while Zoe and I lazily waited on a bench below!!) that gave a very nice view of the countryside below.

At the top of the mountain was a Buddhist temple. It was interesting to see visitors making their obeisance to Buddha, holding incense and bowing. The park was obviously a big tourist attraction -- it was kind of fun to watch the Chinese tourists. They even had a photographer set up with fake backgrounds and ethnic costumes. Reminded me of dressing up in old-fashioned garb for a sepia-tinted print, like we have at virtually every amusement park in the U.S.

Zoe is doing great. She's giggling more and more each day, loves to be held (perhaps a bit too much!!!!), and is sleeping really well. We've started her on antibiotics, since the congestion was getting worse. Looked like a sinus infection, too. I emailed Dr. Lisa with the symptoms, and she said to start Zoe on the antibiotics she sent with us. I'm really glad she did!

I've finally found the tickle spot that sends Zoe into gales of laughter. She's pulling herself up, using furniture, and started cruising around the bed that way this afternoon. Should be walking soon, I guess! She really gets lively at the dinner table, wanting to reach everything, but isn't much interested in eating solid foods. She's the best diet I've ever been on, since I spend so much time corraling her, I hardly get to eat a bite! Can't wait to get her home and into a high chair!

Tomorrow, we'll get paperwork from the notary, and then on Saturday we get the baby's passports. Then we're off to Guangzhou on Sunday. Our appointment for Zoe's visa at the US Consulate is on Monday. We'll get her visa on Tuesday, and fly out on Wednesday. So we'll see you all soon!
