We're leaving on a jet plane, don't know when we'll be back again . . . Well, actually, we do know! We have our travel approval and itinerary: March 9 Leave DFW Airport for Los Angeles, transfer to China Southern for the LONG trip to Guangzhou. March 11 Arrive in Guangzhou (remember the international dateline -- it doesn't really take two days to make the trip!), transfer to China Air for SHORT trip to Beijing. March 12-13 Tour Beijing, including the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven on day 1 and the Forbidden City and Great Wall of China on day 2 (Zoe is very excited about both sites, having enjoyed the Forbiddin City exhibit currently showing at the Dallas Museum of Art and having looked at all of Mama's old pictures from my trip to Beijing way back in 1991). In Beijing, we'll be staying at the Sino-Swiss Hotel. March 14 Leave Beijing for Nanning AND MEET MAYA!!! In Nanning, we will be staying at the Majestic Hotel. March 15 The adoption is finalized! We will be officially a family of three! March 16-21 Enjoy Nanning while waiting for the final paperwork to be finished. It is during this time that we hope to go to Guiping SWI. We need permission from Guangxi Province Civil Affairs office, which they have refused to give so far. But we hope we might have better luck in person. March 21 Leave for Guangzhou, our last stop, to get Maya's physical (required by the U.S. government) and finally her visa, so she can enter the United States. In Guangzhou, we will be staying at the White Swan Hotel. March 23 Leave Guangzhou for Los Angeles!!!!! We will spend the night in LA, so that we have a chance to break up our journey a little bit, get to sleep on a flat surface, and take a shower! The minute Maya passes through immigration & customs, she becomes a United States citizen! In Los Angeles, we will be staying at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. March 24 Leave LAX for DFW. We arrive at DFW Airport at 5:51 p.m. on United flight 492. We'll be posting to this website throughout our trip, as internet access allows. Hope you will "join" us for this journey to Maya!
